I have spent the past 18 years working in brand, marketing, employee communications, corporate social responsibility and PR mainly for agencies, but more latterly client-side. My experience spans a range of industry sectors (healthcare, financial services, tourism, consumer goods, telecoms, broadcast and charity) and ‘big’ names (BT, Proctor and Gamble, Orange, BBC, Alzheimers Society.)
My passion for brand communications and a determination to raise the profile of people and communication in business is what drives me. This is what I achieved as Head of Communications at Simplyhealth where I developed an ‘umbrella’ brand for this aspiring healthcare group, outstanding employee engagement scores and awards from the Chartered Institute of PR. An ambition of mine would be to see employees recognised as critical in establishing market leaders and a company’s reputation in more boardrooms across the country.
Subsequent work in financial services marketing and internal communications for a leading global consumer goods organisation has served to cement my communications concept: A business needs to create a personality through its actions that will enthuse and keep all its essential people close, involved and engaged. It should aim to mesh together with them, forming lasting, trusting relationships that will help it flourish long-term from a consistently positive reputation. The magic glue is consistent brand communications.
